Comment:

 We have no idea of the legality of what IMO does, but either way it's not
 relevant to Pidgin because it's something happening on their servers, not
 on the client.

 Pidgin is a client, so regardless of the legal question, any solution
 would need to run completely on the client side (making this path not
 relevant to us).
