 Actually, it looks like it's the
 [https://hg.pidgin.im/pidgin/main/file/12fe7c5bfccf/libpurple/plugins/ssl
 /ssl-gnutls.c#l560 libpurple gnutls code] that's giving up when the out-
 of-order certificate is encountered.

 That check is probably unnecessary because the chain is going to be
 validated subsequently in the core libpurple code
 (`purple_certificate_verify`).
