 Currently Pidgin prints the entire user name in the chat window.  I've
 found that showing the entire user name wastes a lot of space in the chat
 window, which is a big deal for me because my chat windows are usually
 only about 40 characters wide.

 This patch adds a configuration option that enables the user to select the
 maximum number of characters to show when it prints a user name.  There is
 also an option to entirely disable this setting.  I've found that setting
 this to a single maximum character lets me save a whole bunch of otherwise
 wasted screen space.

 The attached patch applies against both pidgin 2.10.6 and 2.10.7.  I've
 been using the patch for a while and it seems to work fine for me.  I've
 only tested the versions from tarballs because the website suggests I
 don't use the latest development tip.
