 Right, a quick look into this shows that the Yahoo thing is probably a red
 herring. libpurple/protocols/msn/msn.c:1594 seems to flag up an offline
 account as a Yahoo User (/*we send the online and offline Message to Yahoo
 User via UBM*/).

 The real problem is probably why presence information broke
 (online/offline). I have tried sending a message with aMSN - this client
 asks you if you want to send an offline message - when I do, the same bug
 happens (I guess UUM is the offline messaging framework).
