 I noticed this a few weeks ago, and I'm unsure for how long it's been
 going on, since I haven't used bonjour in some time. So I can't really say
 which release introduced this issue.

 I've two systems running pidgin+avahi on my LAN. Both can see each other
 on their contact lists, but messages aren't accepted by either end.

 Here's some logs, with the actual computer name so it's understandable:

 I've no idea why both machines claim the other is invisible, since they're
 on each other's contact list.
