Comment:

 That doesn't make sense...

 Pidgin has no knowledge of, interaction with, or shared dependencies with
 Excel.

 Pidgin doesn't install any global libraries, or mess with the system path.

 I suspect whatever the issue is, it's unrelated to pidgin (perhaps e.g. by
 installing pidgin some sort of global installer registry is regenerated or
 something of that nature).
