 I spent much of last week on 3.0's GTK code. This is the first of a couple
 tickets I'll open related to it.

 The project is strongly considering dropping GTK+ 2 and requiring GTK+ 3.
 Our current code uses many GTK+ 2 idioms and data structures. While we get
 thousands of lines of deprecation warnings, this mostly seems to work
 fine. However, there are a few regressions, which may be caused by the
 GTK+ 3 upgrade or may be just due to recent changes.

 Here are a few that I've noticed:
 * the `select-avatar` icon doesn't show up in the lower right-hand corner
 of the main window, although the space for it remains
 * after a little while, the status bar at the bottom of the main window
 moves upward, leaving some empty gray space below it
 * chat windows' text input box is far too small and has a strange ugly
 border
 * the window resulting from choosing the "Get Info" option for a buddy is
 about as small as it could be

 I'll start looking into these. If anyone's familiar with their causes,
 please share.
