 This is looking more like a total rewrite by the minute...

 I've been using the migration guide in the
 [https://people.gnome.org/~stefw/libsecret-docs/index.html libsecret
 docs].

 It shouldn't be too hard, as there's a guide on how to make a simple
 password store in C and the existing code is <500 lines. I'm tempted to
 say that we should leave it until after the 3.0 release. My only concern
 about that is whether the DB formats are compatible. If not, users are
 going to lose all their keyring passwords when we make the switch.
