 It looks like it's segfaulting in GTK's code, not in Pidgin's. It appears
 to be a result of Pidgin calling `gdk_get_display()`. While Pidgin
 definitely could be making improper use of the API, I can't think of a
 good reason for GTK to ever segfault.

 I don't know anything about GTK internals, so I can't help diagnose the
 issue there.
