 I'm assuming we never heard back about this?

 The relevant lines are now 7314 in `pidgin/gtkblist.c` and 1725 in
 `pidgin/gtkconv.c`, but the patch's intent still seems applicable. In
 regards to the filter function, I'm not sure whether it agrees with our
 current style and library preferences.
