 I'd agree with mmcco that my patches are probably not mergeable at this
 point. I ran into issues trying to do reads in separate threads and never
 finished doing them asynchronously with the other libpurple async i/o
 functions. Most of my code was also pre-GObjectification, which I was
 merged into mater some time in the interim iirc.

 You might be able to salvage changes to log.h and finch / pidgin, but I
 would probably redo the core of log.c from scratch.
