 It seems I faced the same or similar problem.

 I tried to transfer file from Pidgin to Psi.
 As soon as Psi chooses transfer method Pidgin just stops doing anything
 file transfer related for for a minute or so and then it sends possible
 hosts to connect.

 By that moment Psi already cancels file transfer by timeout.

 If I disable upnp stuff in Pidgin settings, file transfer works fine.
