 When I receive an IM from an individual who is not a known "buddy", Pidgin
 does not show their full name (server alias) or their presence status.

 All the communication between the PRPL and libpurple/Pidgin seems to be
 done on the basis of a PurpleBuddy... which in this case doesn't exist.

 At https://pidgin.im/pipermail/devel/2018-March/024222.html I've posted a
 straw-man patch which kind of makes it work, with reasons why I don't like
 that approach and some possible alternatives.

 This affects both IM tabs for "non-buddies", as well as non-buddies who
 are present in chat rooms. Right now I see the full name in chat rooms
 only for participants who happen to also be buddies, for the same reason.
