Possible idea for pidgin's UI

Hi,

After seeing Sean's post in his blog, regarding the redesigned UI for
Pidgin, I thought it would be cool to remove the text entry space from
the window and write text directly on the conversation window, more or
less like cohoba does. I think it makes for a cleaner interface and
saves some space too. So I made a couple mockups showing what it might
look like, one keeping the font and smiley icons as they appear in
Sean's screenshots, and the other trying to save even more space.

What do you think of them?

I'm not subscribed to the list, so please could anyone who replies CC
me?
