As far as I know, MXit originally used XMPP as its protocol and still
uses a modified ejabberd server to run its service. What are the
differences between the MXit protocol and XMPP? What problems did you
perceive in XMPP that made you switch, and do recent extensions to XMPP
(e.g., roster versioning) fill those gaps? Is it likely that MXit will
return to using standard XMPP instead of a modified protocol at some
point in the future? If not, why not?
Just curious. If MXit used XMPP, there would be no need for a plugin...
