Pidgin already supports voice and video calls, both using the
standardised Jingle protocols and the Google-specific ones. Though the
support is not currently being built for Windows.
When speaking about file transfers, not sure if Google intends to
support the upcoming standard XEPs (they said they would convert their
voice and video implementation at some point). But I suspect they don't
have all that much interest in it (look at the lack of interest in the
desktop Google Talk client, and gmail has no (p2p) file transfers,
AFAIK).
Anyway, I have a working version of Pidgin supporting the upcoming
standard XEPs for Jingle file transfer, including the transport methods
for Sock5 Bytestreams and in-band bytestreams.
