Trac recognizing duplicate bugs on bug submission

Not really sure about Trac, but for instance talk.maemo.org's forums use 
what Daniel describes in his message. It just pops up (usually under the 
subject) in the ticket/post with helpful/possibly relevant information. 
I realize this isn't a forum, but that feature has actually helped me 
MANY times when going to post topics. It's at least worth a try?
