Pidgin does not ask for password again when I give a wrong one.

In most cases, it does, though this behavior is handled individually by
each protocol plugin.
Are you, by chance, using MSN? If so, try upgrading to 2.7.3. If not,
what protocol is the account for which it is occurring using?
