 If ichat can't handle png, then pidgin should inform the user that the
 icon won't work the same way that it warns the user if the icon is too
 big.  ("The bonjour protocol doesn't support this image format" etc etc)

 Also, while the icon might work fine on 10.4.9, it appears unscaled on
 10.3.8 which is what most of my office's computers are running.

 I suspect you're probably going to say "that's not our bug, upgrade your
 machines or tell apple to fix their client." I hate writing around other
 people's bugs too, and often tell users to piss off if they are
 complaining about a random broken website that isn't my problem.  But the
 bonjour plugin exists to talk with osx, so it seems an unfortunate
 necessity to conform to its brokenness.
