Comment:

 I just went ahead and modified the global settings instead of per-user and
 that does indeed seem to have fixed it!

 Seems to crash with almost all themes but Raleigh and Bluecurve

 Very strange, like I mentioned before - had no problems on this particular
 system (and no problems at all like this on other systems) up until recent
 versions. Is this likely to be an actual bug with GTK+ or just a system
 oddity?

 Again, if any further debugging could be done that might help, I'd be more
 than happy to do it
