 I don't agree.  This smiley is what used to be entered by default via Gaim
 and probably on other clients as well.  I believe that supporting it as an
 alternative is reasonable.  It will still be entered in the correct way
 for AIM, so if you select your smiley from menu, it will send the correct
 one.  The smiley theme is mostly for the client's end, not for the person
 he's messaging.  That we provide only the smileys that a given protocol
 supports in the menu should establish well enough which ones people can
 send.  I see nothing wrong with having the program handle other cases,
 such as :-/ (for backwards compatibility), and I believe :P (I don't know
 if it's been changed, but old versions of AIM never supported :P as a
 smiley, even though :) and ;) were supported).

 I don't feel that this is going to confuse people that terribly, since
 you'll only discover it works by manually entering that text in the first
 place.
