 Doing this defeats the whole purpose of having different smiley sets for
 different protocols. The user who tries ":-/" and sees the icon appear is
 bound to belief that what he typed was right and that the other side
 actually sees the same of something VERY similar. You can't just assume
 the other end actually knows what a character sequence like ":-/" means.

 Yes, this is somehow screwed up but it's broken by design in all those IM
 protocols. Supporting other stuff that brings dialog display out of sync
 on both ends is bad and should be regarded as a bug. Also, you cannot just
 say "hey it's :-/ on MSN so this should also work on AIM" because next you
 get the problem with sequences like ":-*", which means "kiss" on ICQ I
 think, but "to whisper" on MSN. The right thing is to use the emotes from
 the dialog, or know the right sequence for the used protocol, but NOT
 faking the compatibility by adding other sequences.

 Anyway... I don't care because I already maintain my own themes file.
