 Because it wouldn't be "a simple tick box" it has a non-trivial
 maintenance and support cost, and your argument was not an argument for
 having it in the buddy list it was an argument for having it in the
 conversation window and for having an easier way to switch conversations
 in the conversation window. Because as you yourself said your point here
 is to make sure that your business messages don't go outside and that your
 personal messages are going outside. At no point in that process do you
 need to know the protocol in the buddy list (at best it can save you from
 having to open an IM window to someone to discover that their
 work/personal account isn't online in which case you need to decide what
 to do about contacting them anyway so the waste of a couple seconds is not
 exactly dire).
