 Forgot to mention: I always have GMail in a browser tab, so when I get a
 new mail notification, I go directly to GMail, rather than clicking the
 notification (it's faster that way). If I click the notification and
 clicked "open messages", then the notification goes away, but that would
 open an new GMail tab on my browser every time I got a new message.
