 I finally figured out that the reason my Preferences window was double the
 normal width it should have been was because I had Away messages where I
 had pasted the entire contents into the title. Slimming them down is a
 good workaround, but it might be worth concatenating them with "...".
 This problem doesn't seem to present itself anywhere else when using long
 Away message titles.
