Comment:

 There's nothing abnormal in the log.  If it isn't crashing, there there
 will be no crash report.

 Are you sure it isn't just "minimized to the tray" (and perhaps somehow
 the icon isn't showing up correctly)? (Which will cause it not to appear
 in the Applications list of the task manager)

 If you launch it again, is the existing buddy list brought up?
