Comment:

 pidgin automatically attempts to reconnect for any error type which is not
 "fatal". Connection errors are not, invalid screen names and passwords
 are, as examples. So if you wait pidgin should be attempting to reconnect
 your accounts if you are kicked off because of a transient network error.
 Are you sure you aren't seeing this? Are you waiting long enough for
 pidgin to try?
