 I can confirm this (I've noticed it a long time ago) and add a few more
 details :

 - assume a different font+color is set as a default for outgoing messages,
 via Preferences.
 - assume a copy/paste that contains plain text
 * paste sets text formatting to what is AFAIK the default formatting.
 * I would then need to issue "reset formatting" to get back my usual,
 custom formatting, as set in the prefs.
