 I'm using the Sametime protocol. It's disappointing to hear that this must
 be handled only on the server, but I suppose that makes at least some
 measure of sense. Unfortunately, I don't know too many people who can
 access their company's instant messaging server, so I guess there is no
 hope on this one.

 I was hoping that Pidgin could implement some sort of value-add feature on
 the client side to allow whomever started the chat to optionally share
 some, all, or none, of the existing text in the chat with a new
 participant. Seems like it should be possible, since the history is
 already present in the client, and it would amount to simply resending the
 requested lines of history to just the new chat participant. But then
 again, I'm not the expert! I will, of course, defer to those who are!
