 If you understand network dumps, you might find the output of a packet
 capture program like wireshark illuminating.  If you see no outgoing
 packets to port 5190, or if you see a successful connection setup on 5190,
 both of these indicate a problem which is *certainly* outside the scope of
 Pidgin.  Other behaviors may be ambiguous.

 In any event, the error you are seeing is an error reported to Pidgin from
 the host TCP stack -- we're not *ignoring* the problem, that's a problem
 we can do nothing about.
