 my system's fully up to date with the exception of these packages:

 bug-buddy control-center evolution-data-server evolution-data-sever-devel
 fast-user-switch-applet firefox glib2 glib2-devel gnome-panel ncurses
 ncurses-devel yelp

 for each of those, i have a 6-month-or-so old development package (i
 wanted firefox 2, which fedora core 6 does not have). if any of those
 could affect gdb then this is probably all my fault and i'll wait until i
 upgrade to fedora 7 or 8.
