Comment (by swaters):

 Debian 'sid' up to date as of April 22, 2008.
 Pidgin 2.4.1

 I want to report additional details regarding this irritating bug. I have
 Gtalk, local jabber, and an ICQ account. When I start Pidgin, the Buddy
 List comes up first, followed by the ICQ password window. I start typing
 in my password and then the buddy list window -- which is already
 displayed -- becomes active right in the middle of typing in my password.
 I have to retype the whole thing every time.

 {{{
 Here is the exact sequence of events:
 1) Start pidgin
 2) Buddy list window (Available - Connecting)
 3) ICQ password window
 4) local jabber password window
 5) Gtalk password window
 6) I start typing in my ICQ password. Halfway through, the Buddy List
    window grabs input and becomes active, even though there is no
    visible status change in the Buddy List window.
 7) Since I don't know where I left off in my password, I have to retype
    the whole thing.
 }}}

 This is not a window manager bug. The Buddy List has no reason to grab
 input or change its active status. I suppose it's possible it could be a
 gtk bug, though. You'll have to check and as the app developer, you're in
 a better position to localize the problem.

 Thanks for Pidgin. It's a great program. And thanks for looking into this
 bug.
