Hmm, ok. Sorry to keep adding to this ticket. I won't expect any more
 responses.

In my opinion, dismissing the criticism of up to a thousand users is a
very bad idea, no matter how many downloads there are. Very few people
will take the time to set up a username for a site like this and post a
perceived bug, complaint, or criticism. Upon discovering an unwanted
feature-change, many people will just curse the gods (or developers as the
case may be) and keep using the program, some will revert to an old
version, and some will stop using the program altogether. I'm really
quite astonished that you're willing to ignore the feedback of a thousand
 different users.

Thank you for explaining what you see as the advantages of the automatic
resizing. I did indeed miss that in the other ticket. I suppose it is a
matter of taste. I agree with others that (1) I like to type in a larger
input field, and (2) it is annoying and unnerving to have a program moving
the input field size absent my control. In the manner in which I use
Pidgin (with the old manually sized input field), I ''never'' interact
with the input area size except for the very first initial sizing. I just
happen to feel much more comfortable typing in a larger input field.

As for not including the plugin, again I'm surprised that you do not
consider this expression of frustration from users sufficient to take into
consideration. It makes me wonder whether you are concerned with
cluttering the default plugin selection, or if your real motivation is to
push more people into getting "used to the automatic resizing."

I hope this post didn't come off as snide or snarky. I did not intend it
 as such. Thank you.
