 The ctrl-w shortcut has *not* been disabled. Specifically if you read my
 comment I said that if a *user* enables the 'close conversations with
 Escape' preference that doing so will disable ctrl-w, and that unchecking
 the preference will replace ctrl-w.

 The reason you can't have two shortcuts given the way the preference was
 created is that GTK+ only allows for one menu accelerator key per-item (at
 least as far as I am aware) and without grabbing one of the keys in pidgin
 directly (which is something we try to avoid whenever possible) the
 preference must overwrite whatever binding is there currently (even if the
 user already changed ctrl-w to something else).
