 I'm using Pidgin 2.4.3 on different machines. I renamed a (rather big) ICQ
 group using Pidgin on one machine. Starting it up and logging in on the
 other machine, the renamed group got duplicated, being there with the old
 name and the new name. I dragged one group into the other and got prompted
 to merge the groups, which worked fine. After starting Pidgin and logging
 in again later, all that group's contacts were gone.

 Didn't find anything much related in the FAQ's.
