 Actually, the MSN prpl does specify the font when no default is set by the
 user.  This was discussed earlier in #pidgin.  Christian either
 implemented it or applied a patch to do it in 2004.  I suspect this is
 because at the time the official client reacted poorly to non-specified
 fonts and the font specified was deemed the sanest default available.

 khc or datallah: Could we specify a default font family, such as "serif"
 instead, thus letting the receiver pick a font automatically?
