Comment:

 My understanding of the IRC standard, and the interpretation of most IRC
 servers, is that only one mode character per nick is legal, and that that
 mode character should represent the "most important" mode associated with
 a nick.  (The original IRC spec, 1459, is admittedly very unclear on this;
 however, in the few places it does specify, it says [@|+].)

 I don't think this is a bug in Pidgin, I think it is a bug in the IRC
 server in question.  That said, I cannot think of a case where
 interpreting the mode characters as requested will actually ''break''
 anything.  Accordingly, I'm not likely to fix this any time soon, but I
 would accept a patch which stripped (or, preferably, dealt with properly)
 extraneous leading mode characters.
