Comment:

 A preference that can be changed only via prefs.xml is not acceptible.
 Hidden preferences are a very bad idea, and thus require significant
 justification.  Nothing here justifies a hidden preference, and I agree
 with deryni that a preference is a waste and completely unnecessary.
