#8359: Changing GTK Themes unnecessarily difficult/obscure - Request change
-------------------------+--------------------------------------------------
     Reporter: JStraub | Type: enhancement
Status: new | Component: pidgin (gtk)
Version: 2.5.4 | Keywords: gtk theme selector usability user interface

-------------------------+--------------------------------------------------
I had a UI theme set for Pidgin which inexplicably disappeared during the
2.5.4 install. After triple checking every option in the entire
application and all plugins, I finally discovered the GTK "Theme Selector"
application on the Start Menu 30 minutes later.

By any usability standard, this is a user interface nightmare. Could we
at least integrate a link into the Pidgin menus titled "Themes..." that
calls the GTK Theme Selector? Seems simple to do and would go a long ways
towards increasing the usability of themes.

Best case scenario would be to have a real-time theme selector or at least
a preview, because right now you have to blindly change a theme in GTK
Theme Selector, close it, and restart the program just to find out the
theme isn't what you like, etc.
