 because it:
 a) was already IN pidgin (libpurple? somewhere) prior to 2.0. it just "got
 lost" in the move to 2 for no reason ever given.

 b) its part of the aim: URI set so should be supported, aim:goim +
 aim:addbuddy + others are supported and works (if sometimes buggy), why is
 this any different?

 even the aim:AddBuddy?screenname=yournamehere link works in pidgin (now
 that it properly hooks the aim: urls on install)

 and like i said, and the original ticket said, this USED to work, it just
 got lost in the shuffle to 2.0 (2 years ago)
