Comment:

 Check the prefs.xml file for /purple/savedstatus/idleaway before you make
 the change, more than five seconds after you make the change, once you
 quit pidgin, and once you start pidgin again.

 Also watch the Help->Debug Window when you make the change, for five
 seconds after you make the change, and when pidgin starts up again.
