Comment:

Well: Currently the history is split in date and time and to copy text you
have to select every single item and then copy its text.

However, I often copy pieces that are covered over many of them and
 sometimes

In Miranda's History++ Plugin, for instance you normally don't have them
split that way but more like displayed everything, however not just as
text but in items per typed message and you can easily mark as many of
them as wanted and copy those.
However, in Pidgin I would have to go through many sub-items to cover
this. Maybe something like a shift-select option over the sub-items would
be nice and that grouping as "items" would be nice too, that way it is
 often even more convenient.

Regarding keep the message window alive: Actually, I close them as soon as
possible because I am normally not just chatting and want to have free
space for the rest, switching workpanels won't help in that case either.
Not to mention that it won't help the initial problem.

Btw. a different small question: But in Miranda there is also the ability
that message windows aren't opened automatically and that there is also no
information displayed regarding a new message, except a flashing message
icon in the taskbar and for the users status symbol. Is there something
 like this in Pidgin too?
