 With newer compositing window managers the window manager itself (well
 compositing manager really) can actually flash the window content area
 (consider that it needs to be able to affect that area to do transparency
 and other effects). So if you are using a wm/cm and have upgraded it
 recently it might very well be the wm/cm itself doing this.
