 I have the same issue -- Pidgin 2.66, Windows 7 64 bit. (FYI it's
 technically Pidgin Portable.) Here is the info I see for a contact who
 appears to be online in Pidgin but not in gchat:

 Resource: gmail.4808D187
 Priority: 0
 Status: Available
 Full Name: [name]
 Photo: [photo]

 This happens every day with several contacts. It seems to happen to some
 contacts every time or nearly every time they sign off, and others not at
 all. I can confirm that this cropped up after 2.6.6 had been out for
 awhile, so it appears Google changed something.

 Pidgin had been running flawlessly for months so this quirk is the most
 annoying I've had in a long time.
