 I saw a thread similar to this from several years ago that mentioned PHP
 but I don't have PHP installed. Are there any other
 troubleshooting/debugging steps I can follow that may be able to get more
 information?

 BTW, when I launch Pidgin, the crash report (RPT) never gets updated. Not
 sure if that means anything for you but it appears it's not even getting
 far enough into the code to be able to generate the crash log.
