Comment:

 To put this into context, consider that a user is unlikely to notice any
 difference between, say, version 2.7.9 and 2.7.10. Unless there is a
 security fix or a fix to a specific bug I've experienced (both of which
 are rare) there is really no reason for me to take the 5-10 minutes to
 upgrade. I'll wait until the next release. So perhaps there could be an
 option to not remind me again until the next update, rather than just
 increasing the delay.

 Of course, if updating was a one-click seamless process, as with Firefox
 (for example) that would change the cost-benefit analysis. Then I'd see
 the prompt and say, "sure, go ahead and update yourself".

 Please don't misunderstand my comments - I've been using Pidgin for a long
 time and I appreciate all the hard work the developers put in, it's just
 that I don't want to update that often unless there's a reason to.
