You're absolutely right, I meant libnotify, not libpurple. I mixed the
names up, sorry for confusion.
Regarding the overlapping icon - I assumed this is some error because it's
rather unusual for GUI apps to show an icon next to the menu entries.
Actually, I've never seen it before.
After the initial report I upgraded my system to 11.04 and so at the
moment I am using the pidgin installed from the official repository
(2.7.11-1ubuntu2). I already notices that it fixed the bug partially, i.e.
if I open the notification by clicking on libnotify icon, the yellowish
icon disappears too so there's no way to open the window twice now. But
then if I attempt to close that single window, it blanks out at first and
then after a second closing attempt, it causes pidgin to crash. This is
pretty much same as before, except now it happens in a single window, not
two.
Yes, when using the icon in the buddy list only, I get no issues at all.
An attempt to close the window does it immediately without any crash.
Disabling the plugin doesn't change anything, clicking on the buddy list
icon still works as expected.
