Comment:

 It would act as a forcible reminder that the '''first''' thing that I must
 do upon my return is to change the status; it doesn't matter that "At
 Lunch" is not highlighted, I'd activate something different anyway.

 My buddy list is always open on my desktop (dual displays), so that
 wouldn't attract the slightest glance.

 As things stand, I'm using "The Wonderful Icon" to set the status window
 to "Always on Top". This works, and is an adequate solution, but it
 requires manual intervention every time. The plan is to make the PC do the
 work.
